The No. 8 seed USC women's basketball team (19-10, 12-6 Pac-10) opens the NCAA Tournament Kansas City Regional play against No. 9 seed Louisville (19-10, 11-7) on Saturday (March 19) at 11 a.m. CST at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
USC is in the midst of its best season since 1997, which is the last year that the Women of Troy played in the NCAA Tournament. Under first-year coach Mark Trakh, USC has reached 19 wins for the first time since the 1997 team won 20 games. USC's 12 Pac-10 wins are also the most since the 1997 team won 13. The 12-6 finish was good for a three-way tie for second-place with Oregon and Arizona State, marking Troy's highest standing since winning the Pac-10 crown in 1994.
