Tiffany Elmore Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. -- USC sophomore guard Tiffany Elmore has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 14-20.
Elmore, from Sacramento, Calif., led USC to a 80-68 upset victory over No. 15 Arizona, and a 76-70 win over Arizona State last week. The win was USC's first over Arizona since 1997, and gave the Women of Troy their first three-game winning streak of the season.
For the week, Elmore averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals, and shot 81.8% from the line (9-for-11).
In the win over ASU, Elmore scored a team-high 16 points, grabbed four boards and had two assists. She was among five Trojans scoring in double figures in the upset over Arizona, contributing 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Her defensive efforts helped hold the Wildcats, the league's highest scoring team, to just 68 points, more than 12 points below its season average.
USC is 11-11 overall, and sits in sixth place in the Pac-10 with a 6-6 Conference mark.
The Player of the Week honor is the first of Elmore's career, and the 26th all-time selection for USC. It is USC's first Player of the Week selection since Jan. 20, 1997.
