Women's Basketball Falls to Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Rhonda Smith scored a game-high 18 points as Long Beach State defeated USC 74-62 on Saturday at the Pyramid, its first victory over the Trojans since 1991.
Smith also had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Long Beach State (3-2) never trailed. The 49ers opened up a 34-18 lead before USC (3-3) narrowed it to 34-27 at halftime. The lead grew to as many as 17 points in the second half.
Long Beach out-rebounded USC 51-41. The 49ers also made 25 of 38 free throws, while the Trojans made just 12 of 27.
Long Beach State's Jackie Moore added a career-high 15 points.
Adrain Williams led USC with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Long Beach's win ends a five-game losing streak to USC. The 49ers' last beat the Trojans in December 1991.
