THIS SEASON: A two-time All-American and one of USC[apos]s top freestylers and butterflyers, 2006 junior Cait Connealy should again be a key contributor in every meet this year. An excellent relay swimmer, she owns school records in the 400 scm and 800 scm free relays and the 800y free relay.
2005: Connealy earned All-American relay honors for the second consecutive year, helping USC to eighth in the 800y free relay. She also swam on USC[apos]s 12th-place 200y medley relay as well as on the 400y free relay. Individually, she was 35th in the 200y fly (2:02.06) and 47th in the 200y free (1:50.78) ... At the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, Connealy tied for 12th in the 200y fly (2:02.55), was 14th in the 200y free (1:49.56) and was 29th in the 500y free (4:59.25) ... Connealy, who received the Coaches Award at the team banquet, earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention honors.
2004: Connealy competed in four events as a 2004 freshman at the NCAA Championships, earning All-American honors as part of USC[apos]s sixth-place 800m free relay. She also swam the 200m and 400m free as well as the 400m free relay ... At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, Connealy was 15th in the 200y free, 18th in the 500y free and 32nd in the 100y free. She also swam on USC[apos]s second-place 800y free relay ... Competed in the 100m and 200m free and the 100m fly at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials.
HIGH SCHOOL: Connealy, a prep All-American from North Canyon High in Phoenix, Ariz., came to USC already a member of the 2002 U.S. National Junior team and captained the team during a competition in Rome ... At the 2003 U.S. Spring Nationals, she was 13th in the 100m free (56.89), 18th in the 100m fly (1:01.85) and also raced in the 200m fly and the 50m free ... At the 2003 U.S. Summer Nationals, she was 12th in the 200m free (2:02.51), 13th in the 100m free (57.09) and also raced in the 100m and 200m fly and the 50m free ... She was seventh in the 100m free and eighth in the 50m free at the 2002 U.S. Spring Nationals and was also sixth in the 50m free and eighth in the 100m free at the 2001 U.S. Open ... She was the 2002 U.S. National Junior team[apos]s girls[apos] team captain ... She was a six-time Arizona state champion, winning the 200y free and 100y fly as a senior, the 50y free and 100y fly as a junior, the 100y free as a sophomore and the 50y free as a freshman. Her 1:47.06 in the 200y free as a senior was the fastest prep time in the nation ... She was the 2002 5A state Swimmer of the Year ... She posted three Olympic Trial cuts in 2000 (100m and 200m free and 100m fly).
PERSONAL: Connealy[apos]s birthday is June 4, 1985 ... She is majoring in American Studies and Ethnicity ... Her uncle, Terry Connealy, played football at Nebraska ... She comes from a big family and has seven brothers and sisters ... She lists opening her own restaurant among her career goals ... She lists Olympic gold medallist and former club teammate Misty Hyman as her sports hero ... She enjoys cooking, baking and reading.
