Bio
THIS YEAR: Graduate student Zion Corrales Nelson is in her second season as a sprinter for the USC track and field team. Â She transferred to USC from California after the 2020 season. Â
2022: Made her Trojan debut at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on May 1 and had a time of 12.00 (-1.6) to finish seventh. Â She then competed in the 100m at the Pac-12 Championships and had a time of 11.82 (+1.0) to place 15th...she also was 11th in the 200m with a time of 24.15 (-0.9), her first 200m race since the 2019 NCAA semifinals. Â
2021: Did not compete after transfering from California.Â
BEFORE USC: Corrales Nelson competed at California from 2017-2020.  She has personal bests of 11.41 in the 100m and 23.16 in the 200m, which ranks third and second respectively on California’s all-time lists.  She was a 2019 All-America honorable mention in the 200m by placing 18th at the NCAA Championships with a time of 23.24.  She also placed seventh in the 100m and 200m at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships. Â
HIGH SCHOOL: Corrales Nelson graduated in 2016 from Saint Thomas More HS in Burnaby, British Columbia. She was named Female Varsity Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Female Athlete all four years of high school. Â She posted high school bests of 24.0 in the 200m and 54.1 in the 400m. Â She placed fourth with a time of 24.26 in the 200m competition as part of the Philippean National Team at the Southeast Asia Games and was part of the 4x100m that won the Bronze Medal with a time of 44.81. She also competed in the 2016 World Junior Track Championships in Poland. Â Holds the national youth record in the Philippines with a 400m time of 54.1. Also played three years of varsity basketball, earning team MVP and defensive MVP. Â She earned Distinction Class academic honors throughout high school.
PERSONAL:  Zion was born on Oct. 11, 1998…Her parents are Steven and Editha and she has two sisters, Keshia and Shiloh…Her sports hero is Michael Jordan…She would like to visit Greece…Lists her Filipino food as her favorite…After school she would like to run professionally and become a lawyer…She received a degree in Legal Studies at California and is pursuing a master’s in Studies of Law at USC.
