Savannah Rennie
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Savannah Rennie is in her first season (2022) as the volunteer assistant coach for the Women of Troy.
Â
As a collegian, Rennie was a two-time All-BIG EAST Conference selection at Marquette. She earned AVCA All-East Region laurels with the Golden Eagles and was a four-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection.Â
Â
Rennie joined Marquette as a senior who had received a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA and had two years of eligibility following the COVID-19 shortened season.
Â
Prior to her arrival in Milwaukee, Rennie was a member of the California volleyball program for five seasons. A heralded recruit as PrepVolleyball.com’s No. 20-ranked Senior Ace in the 2015 class and graduated early to enroll at Cal in the spring of 2015. However, that summer, Rennie was diagnosed with congenital hepatic fibrosis with portal hypertension and sat out her freshman season.
Â
On May 17, 2016, Rennie received a liver transplant at the Indiana University Transplant Center but made an unprecedented return to action less than five months after her procedure to appear in 12 matches for Cal. In the fall of 2017, Rennie was sidelined once again following treatment she received for non-Hodgkin Post-Transplant Lymphoma but was able to return to the court for spring volleyball in 2018.
Â
Later, Rennie made her return to action in the fall of 2018 and played her first match since 2016. She totaled 27 kills and 14 blocks through 27 sets for the Golden Bears. In 2019, she played in 23 matches for Cal and tallied 115 kills and 12 service aces despite an injury to her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).Â
Â
Rennie’s incredible journey as a collegiate athlete has been well documented by numerous newspapers, magazines, and television outlets. A native of San Diego, Rennie prepped at Torrey Pines High School and was the 2014 San Diego Section Player of the Year and a member of the U.S. Youth National Team.
Â
Rennie received a degree in media studies from the University of California at Berkeley in 2020 and completed a Master of Arts in Corporate Communication from Marquette University in 2022.
