2015
As a senior, Stonish appeared in 11 matches and went 7-4 overall… helped the Trojans win their first-ever sand volleyball national title… advanced to the quarterfinals of the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge copper bracket with Marielle Bagnard… finished third at the “Dad” Center Founder’s Cup in Honolulu with Paige Hines.
2014
As a junior, Stonish was 8-3 and appeared in two dual matches where she was 2-0… won four straight matches from March 27-April 12… earned one dual victory with Kelly Claes (April 5) at No. 2 against San Jose State, and the other with Paige Hines (April 26) at Arizona… went 1-2 with Mary Buckingham, 1-0 with Claes, 1-1 with Kati Duddridge, 5-0 with Paige Hines.
2013
Stonish, who transferred to USC in the fall of 2012 after a season at Stetson’s, played mainly at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions as a sophomore in 2013… had a 12-8 overall record and was 6-2 with Sydney Seau, 3-2 with Brooke Fournier, 1-1 with Eve Ettinger, and 2-3 with Sam Hirschmann.
STETSON
Stonish had a 16-14 overall record as a freshman in 2012, she had nine wins with Maren Rygh, four with Claudia Kalin, and three with Julie Bassett… helped Stetson to second place in the inaugural Atlantic Sun Championships by combining with Rygh for Flight 2 title… was twice named as part of the Atlantic Sun Pair of the Week (March 21, April 11)… in the summer of 2012, she worked with the USA Beach National Training Team… played in the 2012 Jose Cuervo Hermosa Beach Open with Katie Lindstrom.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
Stonish was a four-time New York State Scholar-Athlete at Ward Melville HS in East Setauket, N.Y…. made All-County and two-time All-Conference… helped Ward Melville to a Suffolk County championship and a Long Island championship… took first place at USA Junior Beach Championships… won East Coast Open 18s tournament in New York and was runner-up at similar event in Florida.
PERSONAL
Alexa Stonish was born Nov. 17, 1993… sister, Sam, played indoor volleyball at Stetson (2008-09)… her artwork was displayed at the 2013 “Artletics” on-campus exhibit that featured the works of USC student-athletes… graduated with a degree in fine arts.
