USC Beach Volleyball Earns Sixth Straight AVCA Team Academic Award
July 21, 2025 | Women's Beach Volleyball
The Women of Troy were honored for the sixth straight time by the AVCA
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the sixth consecutive year, the seven-time national champion USC beach volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT, the association announced on Monday, July 21.
Â
A record-breaking 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball teams maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award this academic year.
Â
"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."
Â
The Trojans (27-11) played their first season as a member of the MPSF in 2025 and finished as the runner-up to league champion Stanford in the inaugural tournament held in Huntington Beach, Calif. USC earned its ninth berth in the NCAA championship and was awarded the fifth seed. The Trojans defeated North Florida in the first round but fell to eventual national runner-up Loyola Marymount in the quarterfinals. USC was ranked sixth in the final AVCA coaches poll and produced the fifth consecutive 20-plus win season under head coach Dain Blanton. The Trojans added had four athletes chosen for AVCA All-American honors: Madison White (Scottsdale, Ariz./ASU Preparatory Academy) and Zoey Henson (Cypress, Calif./Cypress HS) to the first team; Ashley Pater (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS) and Kennedy Coakley (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner HS) to the second team.
