USC Beach Volleyball's Zoey Henson Captures Gold at FIVB U21 Trials

The Trojan junior teamed with Sarah Wood to earn gold medals in Hermosa Beach
HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – USC beach volleyball All-American junior Zoey Henson (Cypress, Calif./Cypress HS) partnered with Sarah Wood (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley HS) to win gold medals at the 2025 FIVB U21 World Championship Trials on Thursday, June 19. Incoming Trojan freshman Kyra Zaengle (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS) took silver with Stanford sophomore Avery Jackson.

Henson and Wood made their way through the qualifier and won the main draw, which comes with a chance to represent USAV at the 2025 FIVB U21 Age Group World Championships in Kachreti, Georgia, from September 16-21, 2025. Henson and Wood will represent the U.S. at the upcoming NORCECA U21 Qualifier (July 3-7) in the Dominican Republic and again at the U21 World Championship in Puebla Mexico (Oct. 15-19).

Among other Women of Troy participating in the event, All-Americans sophomore Kennedy Coakley (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner HS) and junior Ashley Pater(Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS) and Jess Horwath (Barrington, Ill./Barrington HS) finished in ninth-place ties. Sophomore Calla Tufto (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) also participated in the tournament.

On the men's side, USC sophomore opposite hitter Christian Connell and libero Johnny Dykstra took second place for silver medals. Junior setter Caleb Blanchette and incoming freshman hitter Cooper Keane finished in a ninth-place tie.
