2024: Moody reached the NCAA quarterfinals in the 100m dash, but did not start. She ran 11.11 (+3.5w) in the first round of the NCAA West Prelims on May 23 to advance. She placed third in the 100m dash at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 11.26 (+0.1) on May 12…She also ran the third leg on USC’s Pac-12 champion 4x100m relay which posted the seventh-fastest time in school history of 42.87. She opened her outdoor season at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 20 and had a time of 11.31 (-0.4) to place fifth in the 100m. She ran in three indoor meets during the season. Reached the USATF Indoor Championships 60m final on Feb. 17 and placed sixth with a time of 7.27.
2023: Moody reached the NCAA semifinals in the 100m and 200m and earned honorable mention All-America status in both events…she also placed ninth with USC’s 4x100m relay at the NCAA Championships to earn second-team All-America status in the event. She placed second in the 100m with a time of 11.26 (-0.7) and fourth in the 200m with a PR of 22.50 (+1.9) at the Pac-12 Championships on May 14…she moved to sixth on USC’s all-time 200m list. She ran a 100m PR of 11.02 (+1.1) to place second at the Trojan Invitational on April 8…that time moved her to fourth on USC’s all-time 100m list. During the indoor season Moody set the USC 60m dash record with a time of 7.07 in winning at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet on Feb. 25…she broke 4-time NCAA champion sprinter Angela Williams’ record of 7.09 which was set in 2001 and tied by 2-time World Championships gold medalist TeeTee Terry in 2021. She also set her PR and moved to ninth on USC’s indoor 200m list with a time of 23.10 at the New Mexico Classic on Feb. 3
BEFORE USC:Â Attended Villanova in the Fall of 2021, but did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: Moody graduated in 2021 from Browne and Nichols in Cambridge, Mass. She ran for the MetroCobras TC Club. She had personal bests of 11.48 in the 100m and 23.32 in the 200m. She earned a pair of medals at the Outdoor High School Nationals in Eugene, Ore. from June 30-July 3, winning the 200m with a PR of 23.32 (+1.2) and taking the silver in the 100m with a time of 11.51 (+1.6). Her winning 200m time established the all-New England High School record and her 100m time set the Massachusetts record. She lowered her 100m time to 11.48 (+0.5) in winning at the AAU National Club Championships on July 17 in Satellite Beach, Fla.
PERSONAL: Samirah was born on November 8, 2002… She enjoys journaling…Likes apple pie or a brownie with vanilla ice cream…Has passionately been involved with diversity, equity and inclusion issues.
