THIS SEASON: Eric Sugimoto, a 2015 senior in his second season at USC, was a solid contributor as a starter as a junior transfer in 2014 and should continue to provide strong contributions for the Trojans this year.
2014: Sugimoto transferred to USC in the spring of 2014 after two years at Pacific and made an immediate impact in the Trojans[apos] lineup. He finished third on the team in stroke average (72.96), posted a pair of top 10 finishes and had three rounds in the 60s. His semester was highlighted by a tie for fourth at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships at 1-under 287 (74-72-73-68). His other top 10 finish was a sixth at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at 2-under 214 (70-74-70). He had four other top 26 finishes, including a tie for 20th at the Amer Ari Invitational at 8-under 208 (70-70-68) and a tie for 15th at the Jones Invitational at 9-over 225 (74-74-77).
PACIFIC: Sugimoto completed a solid two years at Pacific by winning his first conference individual title at the Big West Championships as a sophomore in 2013, leading the Tigers to the team win as well. A 2013 All-Big West first teamer, his 72.39 stroke average was third best in the conference and he posted three top 5 finishes on the year ... As a freshman, Sugimoto posted one top 10 finish and three top 20 finishes in 11 events.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sugimoto prepped at Rancho Bernardo High in San Diego, Calif., where he was a three-time All-CIF and All-Palomar League first team selection. He helped his team to a league title as a 2010 junior.
