Kurland will serve as a backup catcher this season. Summer
He played for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots of the Alaska Baseball League and made 17 starts in 21 games...he batted .214 (12-for-56) with a double, a triple, two stolen bases and seven RBI...did not record an error in 64 chances. 2008
He played in four games during his freshman season, going 0-for-3 at the plate...made his collegiate debut on March 8 at Winthrop as a pinch-hitter. High School
