Bio
BREAKDOWN: Redshirt senior 6-11, 225-pound forward Joshua Morgan provides USC with experience and a strong defensive presence in the paint. He transferred to USC from Long Beach State after the 2019-20 season, his freshman campaign. He is a tough rebounder, defender and an elite shot blocker.
2022-23: Morgan played in 29 games, 28 starts, and averaged 7.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He had 5 games with 10 or more rebounds and 12 games with 3 or more blocks. He was named to the 2023 Pac-12 All-Defensive Team. Morgan led the Pac-12 with a 2.17 blocks per game average, which ranked 16th nationally. His 63 blocked shots were the 10th-most in a single season by a Trojan all-time. Opened the season by making his first start for USC on Nov. 7 vs. FGCU and had 6 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks...the 7 blocks tied for fifth-most all-time in a game by a USC player. Had his USC highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds with 5 blocks vs. Mt. St. Mary’s on Nov. 18...it was his third career double-double, first with USC. Had his second double-double with USC by scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 boards vs. BYU on Nov. 23. Scored 14 points, had 7 rebounds and matched season high with 7 blocks at California on Nov. 30. Matched a season high with 15 points vs. Oregon State on Dec. 4. Scored 5 points in 5 minutes vs. Washington State on Feb. 2, but left the game with a sprained right ankle...would miss the next 4 games. Scored 4 points, had 4 blocks and 11 rebounds vs. Arizona on March 2. He led USC with 14 points on 7 of 9 shooting vs. Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament game on March 17.
2021-22: Morgan appeared in 31 games off the bench for the Trojans averaging 3.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He was second on the team in blocks with 28. Posted a season-best 13 points and added six rebounds in the Wooden Legacy win over Saint Joseph’s on Nov. 25. He scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds the next day in the championship win over San Diego State. Missed three USC home games from Jan. 24-29 with right knee tendinitis. He made his only shot and grabbed four rebound in USC’s NCAA Tournament game vs. Miami on March 18.
2020-21: Morgan was going to redshirt the 2020-21 season, but once the NCAA granted players another season and he was cleared, he was used sparingly. Morgan appeared in seven games and scored two points and grabbed four rebounds. Played in his first game as a Trojan vs. Santa Clara on Dec. 29. He had two points on a dunk and collected 2 rebounds vs. Stanford on March 3. Morgan played in USC’s first two NCAA Tournament games, playing a minute and making a block vs. Drake on March 20 and playing three minutes and getting a rebound vs. Kansas on March 22.
2019-20: Morgan had a strong freshman season for Long Beach State being named the Big West Defensive Player of the Year and being named honorable mention All-Big West. He was the second Big West freshman to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors, joining Mamadou Ndaiye of UC Irvine in 2014. He played in all 32 games and made 29 starts while averaging 8.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Morgan had 80 blocks which set the school record and ranked 13th nationally, second among freshman. His 80 blocks ranked second all-time in a single season by a Big West player. He also set the LBSU single-game record with 8 blocks vs.CS Fullerton on Jan. 18. He scored in double figures 14 times with a season-best 17 points vs. UC Riverside on Feb. 15. He had 23 games of at least five rebounds with a career-best 14 boards vs. UC Davis on Jan. 16.
HIGH SCHOOL: Morgan graduated from Sheldon High in Sacramento in 2019. He averaged 9.3 points, and 7.3 rebounds with over four blocks per game. He began his high school career at Pleasant Grove High.
PERSONAL: Joshua was born on October 7, 2001. Morgan is majoring in Social Psychology at USC.
