Bio
THIS YEAR: Senior Abygail Paez is in her third season as a distance runner on the USC track and field team. She also competes for the cross country team in the Fall.
2021: Paez posted a PR of 57.81 in the 400m at the Aztec Invitational. She placed fifth in the 1500m with a time of 5:03.74 at the Cal Dual Meet. She also placed eighth in the Trojan Invitational 800m with a PR of 2:14.82. She came in fourth in the 800m at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet with a time of 2:15.45.
2020: Paez had a slight PR of 2:21.70 at the Beach Opener before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
BEFORE USC: Paez attended Los Angeles Harbor College in the Fall of 2018. She ran and trained as an unattached athlete.
HIGH SCHOOL: Paez is a 2018 graduate of San Pedro HS in San Pedro, Calif. She competed in track and field and basketball in high school. She posted PRs of 58.9 in the 400m and 2:22 in the 800m. She ran the first leg for San Pedro's 4x400m relay which was a 2018 California State qualifier. Paez set her high school 400m and 4x400 records. She was on the honor roll all four seasons.
PERSONAL: Abygail was born on March 29, 2000 in Torrance, Calif. Her parents are Martha and Anthony Paez and she has two sibling, Anakin and Alexandra....Her hobbies include surfing, writing poetry, playing piano, violin, and singing...Her favorite movie is American Hustle and favorite musicians are Lady Gaga and Celia Cruz...Her favorite foods are tacos al pastor and sushi...Lists Brenda Martinez as her sports hero...Paez is a Business Administration major at USC...After school she would like to start a social enterprise or work for sustainability initiatives in the fashion or food industries and eventually use the experience gained for consulting for other companies interested in becoming more sustainable and ethical.
