USC Men’s Golf Is Tied for Seventh After Round One of the 79th Western Intercollegiate
April 13, 2026 | Men's Golf
Individually, Jack Buchanan and Jaden Dumdumaya are tied for fifth to lead the Trojans
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Led by Jack Buchanan and Jaden Dumdumaya in the top five, the USC Men's Golf team is tied for seventh out of 15 teams after one round of play at the 79th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Tilteist, held at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif. on Monday, April 13.
Battling the tricky Pasatiempo Golf Course greens and wind throughout the late afternoon, the Trojans finished the first round at the par-70, 6,493-yard track with a 350 (E), which is just two strokes back from the top five and seven behind first-place California.
Individually, USC's sophomores Jack Buchanan and Jaden Dumdumaya lead the way with 67s (-3) to tie for fifth place after the first round. Buchanan quickly rose into the top five with three birdies and an ace on the par-3, 190-yard No. 5 on the front side. However, he ran into trouble after making the turn and managed just one birdie on the back side to two bogies.
After having a pair of birdies and one bogey on the front side, Dumdumaya made a push with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11 and 12 to break into the top 10. Despite finding trouble with a pair of bogeys midway through the back side, he holed out for an eagle on the par-4 No. 17 to get back into the top five.
Giving the Trojans three players in the top 20, graduate senior Luke Stock is tied for 20th with a 69 (-1). Stock started strong with three birdies on the front side before finding trouble with a stretch of three bogeys to start the back side. But Stock pushed his score under par with birdies on a pair of par-3s to end the round.
Junior Nicolas Dominguez is tied for 53rd with a 73 (+3), while Raghav Gulati is behind him in a tie for 62nd with a 74 (+4). Rounding out the Trojans, senior Antonio Safa is in 95th place with an 84 (+14).
The Trojans begin the second round tomorrow at 9:12 a.m. PT. All rounds will be nationally televised on the Golf Channel, starting at 4:00 p.m. PT. Pertinent schedule information can be found on the men's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
