Trojans hit the road to face Minnesota and Wisconsin.
LOS ANGELES - No. 17 USC women's tennis heads to the Midwest this weekend to open Big Ten road play with a pair of matches against the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Wisconsin Badgers.
USC enters the trip at 7-4 overall after a tough 6-1 road loss to UCLA in its most recent outing. The team currently features three ranked singles players — No. 38 Jana Hossam Salah, No. 39 Emma Charney and No. 98 Eugenia Zozaya — along with two ranked doubles teams in No. 15 Daniela Borruel/Lily Fairclough and No. 32 Jana Hossam/Lily Fairclough.
USC opens the weekend on Friday, March 6, facing Minnesota at 2 p.m. PT in Minneapolis. Minnesota carries a 9-4 record into the matchup after sweeping St. Thomas 7-0 in its last match. Jeselle Ante leads the lineup for Minnesota as the team's lone nationally ranked singles player at No. 117.
The road trip concludes Sunday, March 8, when USC faces No. 44 Wisconsin at 10 a.m. PT in Madison. Wisconsin enters the match at 7-2 overall and is coming off a narrow 4-3 win at Illinois.
Sunday's contest will be a rematch from January's ITA Kickoff Weekend, where Wisconsin edged USC 4-3 in a tightly contested match. Wisconsin features two ranked singles players in No. 17 Maria Sholokhova and No. 56 Ekaterina Ivanova, while Sholokhova and Lucie Urbanova form the nation's No. 7 doubles team.
With two conference matches on the road, the weekend provides an opportunity for USC to build momentum in Big Ten play.Â
