Trojans pick up doubles point but fall short in singles play.
COLLEGE STATION - No. 13 USC women's tennis saw its 2026 campaign come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling 5-1 to No. 4 seed Texas A&M in the NCAA Super Regional round at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The Trojans wrap the year with a 21-7 overall record after advancing to the program's first Super Regional appearance since 2024.Â
USC opened the match strong by securing the doubles point behind wins on courts one and three. The Trojan duo of No. 27-ranked Lily Fairclough and Krisha Mahendran delivered a statement victory on the top court, defeating No. 11 Lucciana Perez and Mia Kupres 6-2, while Dani Borruel and Eugenia Zozaya clinched the point with a 6-4 win on court three.
Texas A&M answered quickly in singles play, however, collecting straight-set wins on courts one and five to take a 2-1 lead before extending its advantage on court three. No. 72 Emma Charney battled in a tightly contested second set against No. 71 Ilinca Amariei but ultimately fell 6-4, 7-5 as the Aggies moved within one point of the match victory.
Krisha Mahendran kept USC alive with a resilient effort on court four, rallying after dropping the second set to force a deciding third. The Aggies ultimately clinched the match there, however, as No. 106 Lexington Reed escaped with a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory to seal the Super Regional win for Texas A&M.
No. 107 Zozaya also pushed her match to three sets on court two, rebounding from a second-set loss before falling 6-3, 2-6, 6-4Â in the final completed match of the day. Dani Borruel's match on court six went unfinished with the freshman leading into a third set battle.
The Trojans close the season after putting together one of the program's strongest campaigns in recent years, highlighted by a 12-1 conference mark and regular season Big Ten title.Â
