No. 17 USC Women's Tennis Defeats Minnesota 4–1 to Open Big Ten Conference Play

Doubles point and straight-set singles wins from Immi Haddad, Krisha Mahendran and Eugenia Zozaya power USC to victory in Minneapolis.
MINNEAPOLIS - No. 17 USC women's tennis opened its Big Ten road swing with a strong 4–1 win over Minnesota on Friday afternoon at the Baseline Tennis Center, powered by a quick doubles point and three decisive singles victories.
USC set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Freshmen Dani Borruel and Eugenia Zozaya earned a 6–4 victory over Mia Liepert and Anlin Xie, while junior Immi Haddad and senior Emma Charney sealed the point with a commanding 6–2 win against Yinong Ma and Jeselle Ante. Minnesota's pair of Arina Valitova and Nora Knezevic claimed the remaining doubles match, 6–4, over Krisha Mahendran and Lily Fairclough on center court.
In singles play, the Trojans quickly built on their advantage. Haddad delivered a dominant performance at the top position, defeating Jeselle Ante 6–1, 6–3. Krisha Mahendran followed with one of the most decisive wins of the afternoon, cruising past Anlin Xie 6–1, 6–1 to put USC firmly in control.
Eugenia Zozaya clinched the match for USC with a straight-sets victory over Aiva Schmitz on court two, 6–3, 6–4, securing the fourth point and the team win.
Minnesota's lone point came at the No. 4 position, where Sofia Pinto defeated Lily Fairclough 6–3, 6–2. Two other singles matches went unfinished after the overall result was decided, with Emma Charney leading Mia Liepert in a third set and Dani Borruel splitting sets with Arina Valitova.
With the victory, USC improves to 8-4 and 1-0 in conference play. The Trojans continue their road trip on Sunday against Wisconsin at 10 a.m. PT.
