No. 8 USC Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Michigan 4-1

Trojans fall short in singles play against the Wolverines.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - No. 8 USC women's tennis came up just short on the road Sunday afternoon, falling 4-3 to Michigan at the Varsity Tennis Center.Â
The Trojans opened strong by claiming the doubles point. The pair of No. 48 Lily Fairclough and Krisha Mahendran battled to a 7-6 (5) win at the top spot, while Emma Charney and Immi Haddad secured a 6-4 victory at No. 2 to clinch the early 1-0 advantage for USC.
In singles play, Michigan responded with wins on courts one through three to take control of the match. No. 24 Jana Hossam pushed No. 21 Piper Charney in a tight first set before falling 7-5, 6-2, while Immi Haddad and Eugenia Zozaya also dropped straight-set decisions. USC stayed within striking distance thanks to strong performances from No. 50 Emma Charney, who grinded out a three-set win at No. 4, and Dani Borruel, who earned a straight-set victory on court six to even the match at 3-3.
The deciding point came down to court five, where Krisha Mahendran fought through a three-set battle but ultimately fell in a pair of tiebreakers in the final two sets, sealing the 4-3 win for Michigan.
