The Women of Troy lost their third straight game in a 20-5 result to the Blue Jays
BALTIMORE, Md. – The USC lacrosse team (6-5, 0-3 Big Ten) fell to eighth-ranked John Hopkins (9-1, 2-0) by a 20-5 count at Homewood Field on Thursday, March 19.

- So. attacker Kaylee Fravert scored two goals on three shots.
- So. midfielder Alex May scored a goal and grabbed a pair of draw controls.
- Jr. attacker Reese Robinson recorded a pair of assists and was credited with a draw control.
- Jr. midfielder Anna Regan secured three draw controls, picked up a ground ball, and scored a goal.
- Fr. midfielder Jenna Lundstedt led all players with a career-high eight draw controls and had a caused turnover.
- So. defender Sophia DeJarnette had two ground balls, a draw control, and caused one turnover.Â
- In goal, Jr. Annie Shields produced six saves in her first start this spring.
- For the Blue Jays, Ava Angello recorded 11 points with seven goals and four assists. Taylor Hoss had seven points with five goals and two assists. Laurel Gonzalez won six draw controls and had two points with a goal and an assist. Reagan O'Brien produced six caused turnovers and was one of three Blue Jays with three ground balls.
- The Trojans doubled up Johns Hopkins in the center circle to win by an 18-9 edge in draw controls. JHU was stifling on defense and forced USC into 24 turnovers and beat the Trojans in ground balls, 24-8. As a result, JHU out-shot USC, 38-11.Â
- Angello found Gonzalez for the first JHU goal of the game just 34 seconds after the opening draw and spurred the Blue Jays to a 5-0 first quarter. Hoss scored to open the second quarter and Angello scored three in a row to make it 10-0 for Johns Hopkins with 10 minutes to halftime.
- Fravert scored unassisted and then May took a dish from Robinson to score two in a row for the Trojans and trimmed the Johns Hopkins lead to eight, 10-2, with 5:20 left on the clock. Hoss and Angello scored two more, but Vivian Leuthold scored in response to make it a 12-3 margin at the halftime break.
- Angello and Fravert traded goals to open the third quarter, but Hopkins scored the next seven goals to balloon the lead to 16 at 20-4. Regan caused a turnover on the Blue Jay clear and went straight to goal to score the Trojans' fifth of the day as time expired in the 20-5 final.Â
- USC heads to College Park, Md., to face third-ranked Maryland (8-0, 1-0 Big Ten) on Sunday (March 22) at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT at the Terrapins' Lacrosse Complex. The Trojans and Terps will be shown live on Big Ten Plus.
- USC fell to 0-3 all-time against Johns Hopkins.
- The Trojans moved to 2-2 in road games this season.
- USC dropped to 1-5 against ranked opponents this season (32-53 all-time) and to 12-25 all-time against teams ranked in the top 10. The Trojans played their third straight ranked opponent.
- The Trojans fell to 23-25 in games played in the Eastern Time Zone and moved to 0-3 in the state of Maryland.
- USC lost three straight games for only the fourth time in program history (2013, '14, '18) and allowed 20 goals in a game for only the fifth time (2017, '21, '22, '25).
