No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball Takes Down No. 3 Cal Poly, Concordia Irvine

The Women of Troy move to 8-2 on the season after winning all four matches this weekend.
LOS ANGELES – No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball (8-2) wrapped up the Battle for Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 28, in dominating fashion as the Women of Troy took down No. 3 Cal Poly 4-1 and Concordia Irvine 5-0. With today's wins, USC went 4-0 on the weekend and is now 8-2 on the season. The Trojans are also 12-0 all-time against Cal Poly and 7-0 all-time against Concordia Irvine.
Zoey Henson and Sarah Wood played in the No. 1 spot for USC, ending the day 1-1. The duo played their first match against Cal Poly's Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep. Henson and Wood battled with the Mustangs but ultimately fell 30-28 and 21-11. When the Women of Troy returned to the court against the Golden Eagles, they had found their rhythm, taking down Olivia Medina and Aliyah Moore 21-9 and 21-15. Henson and Wood now have a 9-1 record this season.
The No. 2 pair all day for the Trojans was Ashley Pater and Kennedy Coakley. These two won their first set comfortably with a score of 21-14. But then, Cal Poly's Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter put up a fight in the second as they didn't want to let go of this match. Pater and Coakley outlasted the Mustangs 34-32 to secure the second set and the match. From there, they got back onto the court against the Golden Eagles. Concordia Irvine's Gabby Reinking and Lexi Godbey put up a fight in the first set, but ultimately, the Trojans took control to sweep Concordia with scores of 22-20 and 21-10. Coakley and Pater now have a 6-4 record this season and a 34-8 record overall.
Playing in the third spot for USC against Cal Poly were Quincy Stephens and Alana Embry. They carried the momentum they gained from yesterday into their match against Julia Westby and Ashleigh Adams. These two rallied together to grab the win and go 3-0 on the weekend, finishing with scores of 21-19 and 21-17.
Competing as the third pair against Concordia Irvine were Macy Bolyard and Madison Goellner, who played together for the first time this season and the fifth time in their careers. They secured a two-set win over the Golden Eagles with scores of 21-15 and 21-15. These two are now 1-0 on the season and 2-3 overall.
USC's fourth pair against Cal Poly was Kaileigh Truslow and Kerry Keefe. Cal Poly's Quinn Perry and Elise Lenahan played a tight two sets against the Women of Troy, but Keefe and Truslow prevailed, securing the win 21-18 and 21-17.
Keefe returned to the court against Concordia Irvine with Bella Satterwhite in the No. 4 spot. These two got the job done in two, winning 21-15 and 21-15 against the Golden Eagles. This was the first time these two played together this season.
Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok continue to hold down the fifth flight for USC. They stayed on top of their opponents, taking down the Mustangs 21-17 and 21-12. They followed that up with a commanding win over the Golden Eagles with scores of 21-7 and 21-14. These two are still undefeated, boasting a 9-0 record this season.
