Trojans to face Bruins at Los Angeles Tennis Center on Friday at 1 p.m. PT.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 8 ranked USC women's tennis team hits the road for a crosstown showdown on Friday, facing No. 5 UCLA at 1:00 p.m. in Westwood. The Trojans look to pick up a marquee win over the Bruins, who are 4-1 in the last five meetings.
USC (7-3) enters the match looking to bounce back after falling to Pepperdine last weekend. The Trojans placed three singles players in the Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings on Feb. 19, led by No. 32 Jana Hossam, No. 39 Emma Charney and No. 89 Eugenia Zozaya. In doubles, the No. 14 ranked duo of Daniela Borruel and Lily Fairclough have been a staple in the lineup.
UCLA (5-2) is riding momentum after winning three straight matches, including a win over Pepperdine last weekend. The Bruins are led by No. 49 ranked Mayu Crossley and No. 122 Kate Fakih in singles play. In doubles, Kakih pairs with Olivia Center as the nation's No. 62 ranked doubles duo.
With both programs ranked inside the top 10, Friday's match up will be a clash of two talented teams. For the Trojans, a victory would mark their second ranked win of the season and an opportunity to make a statement in one of the most storied rivalries in all of college sports.
First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT with live scoring and video available here.Â
