USC Freshman Jazzy Davidson Named to John R. Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List

Davidson is one of just two freshmen included on the Top 25 Midseason Watch List.
LOS ANGELES - USC freshman Jazzy Davidson has been named to the 2025–26 John R. Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Wednesday, Jan. 7.
The freshman leads USC in every major statistical category, including points per game (16.1), rebounds per game (6.9), assists per game (3.6), steals per game (1.8) and blocks per game (1.7), while also pacing the team in minutes played, averaging 33:04 per game.
Among her season highlights, Davidson has posted four 20-point performances and recorded three double-doubles, doing so against Tennessee Tech (Nov. 25), No. 21 Washington (Dec. 7) and Oregon (Jan. 6). She has made at least three field goals in every game, grabbed two or more rebounds in every contest and tallied at least one block and one assist in each outing this season. The freshman also has multiple games with four or more blocks against ranked opponents.
On the defensive end, Davidson leads the Big Ten in total blocks (38), blocks per game (2.7) and block percentage (8.0), establishing herself as one of the conference's premier rim protectors.
In addition to her Wooden Award recognition, Davidson has earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors three times this season and was named USBWA National Freshman of the Week during the fall.
Davidson is one of 25 players nationwide named to the midseason watch list. The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2026 John R. Wooden Award® Women's Player of the Year. Players not selected for the list remain eligible for inclusion on the Wooden Award® midseason, late-season list, and the National Ballot. The National Ballot will feature15 top players who have demonstrated to their universities that they meet or exceed the Wooden Award® qualifications.
Celebrating its fiftieth year, the Wooden Award will feature special programming throughout the season with first winner and ambassador Marques Johnson, culminating in the 2026 John R. Wooden Award presented by Principal. Winners and All Americans will be honored at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Wooden Award Program hosts the most prestigious honors in college basketball, recognizing the Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player for men and women, the Wooden Award All-America Teams for men and women, and the annual selection of the Wooden Award Legends of Coaching recipient.
Honorees are certified by their universities as meeting Wooden Award standards established by Coach Wooden, including progress toward graduation and at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
