Trojans renew rivalries against former conference foes.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 20 USC women's tennis team heads north this weekend for a pair of marquee nonconference duals, taking on No. 11 Stanford on Friday, Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. PT before facing No. 16 Cal on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m. PT in Berkeley.
USC enters the weekend with a 5-1 overall record and is ranked No. 20 in the latest ITA Team Rankings (Jan. 28). The Trojans are coming off a 1-1 showing at ITA Kickoff Weekend in Charlottesville, Va., where they opened the event with a win over Wisconsin before falling to No. 14 Virginia in the championship match.
The Women of Troy opened the spring ranked No. 19 following a highly successful fall season that featured standout performances from both veteran leaders and emerging talent. USC placed five players in the ITA Fall Singles Rankings, led by No. 12 Emma Charney and No. 16 Jana Hossam. Eugenia Zozaya (No. 62), Krisha Mahendran (No. 74) and Immi Haddad (No. 95) also appeared in the ITA national singles rankings. In doubles play, the Trojan tandem of Lily Fairclough and Dani Borruel climbed to No. 6 nationally, while Mahendran and Hossam checked in at No. 51.
USC also made a significant impact at the NCAA Fall Individual Championships, qualifying six players across singles and doubles competition—tied for the most of any program in the country. Hossam highlighted the fall slate with a run to the NCAA Singles Semifinals, while Fairclough and Borruel matched that achievement by advancing to the NCAA Doubles Semifinals. Charney added to USC's postseason resume by reaching the NCAA Singles Round of 16.
This weekend's matches mark a renewal of longtime rivalries as USC faces two former Pac-12 foes in back-to-back days.
