USC Swimming & Diving Falls To Stanford

LOS ANGELES- The USC swimming and diving team hosted the Stanford Cardinal at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans celebrated its 13 member senior class consisting of Katherine Adams, Ella Flowers, Justina Kozan, Nicole Maier, Claire Tuggle, Ashley McMillan, Griffin O'Leary, Drew Huston, Robert Gref, Laurent Gosselin-Paradis, Jan Bialecki, Derek Zhang and Vaggelis Makrygiannis.
In a tough battle, USC fell to Stanford by scores of 208-91 on the women's side and 203-96 on the men's.
Minna Abraham took the first event of the day in a race that came down to the wire. Abraham posted a time of 51.22 in the 100y back to claim first.
Michal Chmielewski continued his strong weekend with the top time in the 100y back to help the Trojans sweep the event. Chmielewski touched the wall over a second before the event runner up with a time of 45.82.Â
Chmielewski claimed the top spot in the 100y fly to wrap up the weekend, narrowly finishing first with a time of 45.33.
Kate Miller completed her weekend sweep on the 1-meter springboard with a winning score of 298.50.Â
In the 200y back, Vaggelis Makrygiannis swam a dominant race, posting a time of 1:40.54. The mark moves the graduate student up to the third fastest time in the event and program history.Â

The Women of Troy will head across town to take on the UCLA Bruins on Jan. 30. The men's squad will be back in action on Feb. 6 for the final home meet of the year.
