Alijah Arenas Signs With USC Men's Basketball
June 20, 2025 | Men's Basketball
LOS ANGELES – USC Men's Basketball will add a local star to the roster for the 2025-26 season as Alijah Arenas signs with the Trojans, Head Coach Eric Musselman announced today.
Â
"We are excited to welcome Alijah to our Trojan family," Musselman said. "Alijah will be a huge addition not just to our basketball program, but to our USC community. Alijah is our first McDonald's All-American that we have been fortunate to coach at USC, and sixth McDonald's American as a college coach. Alijah will also be my first, second-generation player that I have had the pleasure to coach in my career, having coached his father Gilbert with the Golden State Warriors."
Â
Arenas played his high school career at Chatsworth High School. The five-star recruit was a 2025 McDonald's All-American and was also named the Cal-Hi Sports D2 Player of the Year as he led his team to back-to-back regional championships. As if that wasn't enough, Arenas's performances also resulted in him being named the LA Daily News' All-Area Player of the Year and he received the John R. Wooden Award for being the High School Player of the Year. Along with that, he was the back-to-back West Valley League Player of the Year. The Woodland Hills native recorded 3,002 points in just three years of high school basketball and is the leading scorer in CIF LA City Section history. This number is also the 14th-best in California High School history. His best high school performance came against Sylmar, when he scored 63 points.Â
Â
"Alijah has an extremely impressive skill set that will have an instant impact on our USC basketball program," Musselman said. "He will play a huge part in turning the Galen Center into an exciting homecourt atmosphere. Our coaching staff is beyond excited to be able to get on the floor and get to work with Alijah."
Â
Arenas is the second freshman to sign with the Trojans for the upcoming season.
