Five USC Beach Volleyball Trojans Named to Inaugural MPSF All-Academic Team

Madison Goellner, Delaney Karl, Ashley Pater, Mabyn Thomas, and Madison White were each chosen for league academic laurels
LOS ANGELES – Five USC beach volleyball student-athletes were chosen to the inaugural Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team, the league announced on Monday, May 19.

Sophomore Madison Goellner (Rockwall, Texas/Rockwall HS), junior Delaney Karl (Carlsbad, Calif./Torrey Pines HS), sophomore All-American Ashley Pater (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS), junior captain Mabyn Thomas (Southlake, Texas/Carroll HS), and junior All-American Madison White (Scottsdale, Ariz./ASU Preparatory Academy) were each selected to the conference's first beach volleyball all-academic team. Pater and White—both also team captains—were also selected to first MPSF All-Conference Team.

To qualify for the MPSF's all-academic team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, be at least a sophomore in class standing, completed a full year at the institution prior to the year in which the award is given, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's scheduled contests.

The Trojans (27-11) played their first season as a member of the MPSF in 2025 and finished as the runner-up to league champion Stanford in the inaugural tournament held in Huntington Beach, Calif. USC earned its ninth berth in the NCAA championship and was awarded the fifth seed. The Trojans defeated North Florida in the first round but fell to LMU in the quarterfinals. USC was ranked sixth in the final AVCA coaches poll of the season. The Women of Troy produced the fifth consecutive 20-plus win season under head coach Dain Blanton and added had four athletes chosen for AVCA All-American honors: White and sophomore Zoey Henson (Cypress, Calif./Cypress HS) to the first team; Pater and freshman Kennedy Coakley (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner HS) to the second team.
