No. 25 USC Baseball Closes Series With 10-3 Win Over Michigan State

USC moves to 33-18 overall and 17-10 in Big Ten play on the season with the win. Michigan State falls to 27-23, 12-15.
The Trojans scored early and often, putting up a pair in the first and then busting things open with four runs in the third.
USC scored first on a Spartan error and then got an RBI single from Adrian Lopez. Lopez opened the third-inning rally with another RBI single and after another run on an MSU error, Abbrie Covarrubias doubled home Lopez.
Jack Basseer hit a solo-homer with one out in the fifth and Johnny Elliott singled in a run with two outs in the inning. Brayden Dowd would make it a 10-0 game with a two-run shot to right in the fifth.
Michigan State avoided the run rule with two runs in the seventh and then added one in the eighth.
Mason Edwards got the start and while working on a pitch count, tossed 3.0 brilliant innings, giving up just one hit and no runs or walks, while striking out five batters. Grant Govel worked the next 2.0 innings, allowing one hit and no runs. Brodie Purcell closed things out with a scoreless ninth inning.

COMING UP
USC's contest against CSUN originally scheduled for this Tuesday has been cancelled due to scheduling complications. The Trojans head to Washington for their final series of the regular season, with the three-game set starting on Thursday in Seattle. All three games will be broadcast live on B1G+.
