Gabe Dynes comes to USC from Youngstown State.
LOS ANGELES – USC Men's Basketball has added another athlete to the roster for the 2025-26 season in Gabe Dynes, Head Coach Eric Musselman announced today.
"We are excited to welcome Gabe to our Trojan family," Coach Musselman said. "Gabe will be a tremendous asset to us on both ends of the floor. He proved to be one of the best shock blockers in the country this past season and will provide immediate value to us."
Dynes will come to USC from Youngstown State, where he earned a spot on the Horizon League's All-Freshman Team and All-Defensive Team. The 7-foot-3 center played in 27 games for the Penguins, starting in four of them. He averaged 2.3 blocks per game, which was the best figure in the league. Along with that, he averaged 3.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting at 70.6 percent from the field. He contributed two double-doubles during his debut season as he notched 14 points and 10 rebounds against Bethany along with 10 points and 11 rebounds against Milwaukee.
Prior to Youngstown State, Dynes wrapped up his high school career at Simon Kenton High School in his hometown of Independence, Kentucky. He had the second-best field goal percentage in the state, shooting at 74 percent from the field as a senior. Along with that, he earned first-team all-conference honors and was named the Division 1 Defensive Player of the Year by the Northern Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches. He ended his high school career averaging 12.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Dynes is the second player to sign with the Trojans for the upcoming season.
