No. 16 Women of Troy Record 10th Sweep of the Season Over Maryland

LOS ANGELES – No. 16 USC women's tennis swept to victory in its final regular season match of 2025, shutting out Maryland 4-0 at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.

The Women of Troy were clicking at every level on Saturday, getting in their last swings before they head North to Ojai for the Big Ten Conference tournament, April 23-26. In doubles, USC maintained the momentum it has had all season, cruising to a 6-2 victory on court three with senior Parker Fry and junior Emma Charney. On court two, senior Sloane Morra and freshman Jana Hossam matched their teammates, winning 6-2 to lock in the early point.

In singles, it was the USC seniors who continued to steal the show on senior day. Morra finished first on court six with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory to wrap up her regular season career and give USC a two-point advantage. Sophomore Lily Fairclough wrapped up next on court four with a 6-3, 6-1 win, putting the Women of Troy within one point of the match.Â

Finally, it was senior Grace Piper who clinched the match for USC on center court where she has played all season. Piper won her first set 6-2, and after her opponent mounted a comeback, Piper clinched the match with a 7-4 tiebreak victory in set two. This was Piper's eighth time clinching a match in her career with USC.

With the victory, USC closes out the regular season with a record of 15-6 and a 9-4 record in conference play. The win also marked the Trojans 10th sweep this season, having previously powered past a slough of opponents this season.Â

The Women of Troy will wait for Monday's announcement to see what path they will take in the Big Ten tournament.
