USC Men's Tennis Ready for Midweek Makeup Match Against UCLA
March 31, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – USC men's tennis (10-6, 4-2 Big Ten) welcomes UCLA (8-6, 6-0 Big Ten) in a rescheduled matchup from earlier this month, as the rivalry will start a new era by competing in a Big Ten dual at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 1 at the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
The second leg of the doubleheader will have a different approach than its predecessor, as the Trojans enter at 4-2 in conference play, and the Bruins are undefeated at 6-0. Both squads have played the same opponents this Big Ten season, as UCLA comes into the dual fresh off a win against Washington, while USC dropped its match to the Huskies during the same weekend stint. In the nonconference slate, the Trojans bested the Bruins 4-3, as senior Karl Lee clinched the match against his former team on Feb. 22 in Westwood.
The Trojans are led by their two ranked players, No. 30 senior Peter Makk and No. 108 freshman Nathan Trouve. Makk is 8-4 in duals this season, as he split his weekend with one win and one loss. Trouve is 7-5 on the season and is 2-2 in conference play. Outside of the ranked individuals, freshman Connor Church is a player to watch, as he is 6-3 in duals and has won five of his last six matches.
The Bruins have four-ranked singles competitors: No. 17 Spencer Johnson, No. 29 Rudy Quan, No. 75 Emon Van Loben Sels and No. 120 Aadarsh Tripathi. Last time up, USC went 1-2 against UCLA's current-ranked singles competitors, with Johnson not playing in the first meeting. The Bruins also have one doubles pairing in No. 19 Tripathi and Alexander Hoogmartens.
While the Trojans do not have any ranked doubles players, the doubles point has been crucial as USC has won 11 of the 16 doubles points this season. The Trojans claimed the doubles point against UCLA last time up, as they won in extra sets from the No. 1 court with graduate student Tristan Bradley and Makk.
First serve for this matchup will be at 5 p.m. with the game being streamed HERE.
PROMOTIONS
Fans who attend the dual will receive a voucher for a free t-shirt that can be redeemed after doubles play.
