March 28, 2025 | Women's Basketball
Trojan assistant coach has been recognized for her talent as an up-and-coming coach.
As the USC women's basketball team sets up for its second straight NCAA Sweet 16 appearance tomorrow (March 29), Trojan assistant coach Courtney Jaco has been named as a WBCA Thirty Under 30 honoree, presented by Morgan Stanley Global Sports and Entertainment.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.
"I'm glad the WBCA Thirty Under 30 and Morgan Stanley have shined a light on what we already know: Courtney Jaco is a rising star in the coaching profession," USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. "We are lucky to have her in the Trojan Family."
Jaco is in her second season as an assistant coach on head coach Lindsay Gottlieb's staff, having served two seasons prior as director of player development. A 2017 USC graduate who won a 2014 Pac-12 Tournament Championship and closed out her USC playing career ranked as its No. 2 all-time 3-point shooter, Jaco returned to Troy following a professional playing career overseas and a season as a women's basketball intern at Stanford.
A native of nearby Compton, Calif., Jaco moved into an assistant coach role in July 2023, taking on recruiting responsibilities along with on- and off-court coaching and scouting. She continues to oversee USC player development, including film work and individual assessment and training as well as financial literacy and career development for the Women of Troy. Jaco also serves as a liaison to resources such as nutrition, mental performance and recovery.
"Congratulations to these coaches who have distinguished themselves so early in their careers," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The WBCA is pleased to recognize this up-and-coming talent in our coaching family. We celebrate their effort on the basketball court as teachers and equally applaud the extensive role they play in impacting the lives of their student-athletes."
This is the 10th year of the WBCA Thirty Under 30 program.
