The sophomore guard is a co-winner this week after helping USC to two ranked wins in conference play.
With one game left to go in USC's first Big Ten Conference regular season, sophomore guard JuJu Watkins has secured her sixth selection as a Big Ten Player of the Week after helping the Trojans to two more wins over ranked opponents. She shares this week's honor with UCLA's Lauren Betts. USC is now 25-2 overall and 15-1 in Big Ten play.
In the last week of regular-season action at Galen Center, Watkins recorded 28 points, eight rebounds, three steals, three blocks and three assists in a 83-74 USC win over No. 22 Michigan State, and then produced 22 points, five rebounds, four blocks and three assists in a 76-66 victory over No. 25 Illinois She also was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line against the Illini.
With her offensive efforts, Watkins moved up two spots on USC's all-time scoring list — now ranked No. 11 all-time with 1,574 career points, surpassing Cynthia Cooper. With her 654 points scored this season, Watkins has pinned up the 10th most single-season points by a Trojan, edging out Tina Thompson's senior season production total. Watkins already holds the USC record for single-season scoring from her freshman campaign.
On Feb. 25, Watkins also was named one of five USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week for the fifth time this season.
Watkins and the No. 4 Women of Troy will wrap the regular season with trip across town looking for a second victory over rival UCLA. USC takes on the No. 2 Bruins at Pauley Pavilion at 6 p.m. on Saturday (March 1).
