December 09, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
Leah Ford earned all-region honorable mention
LEXINGTON, Ky. – USC women's volleyball redshirt sophomore outside hitter London Wijay (Porter Ranch, Calif./Bishop Alemany HS) and freshman setter Reese Messer (Olathe, Kan./Saint James Academy) were each named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Pacific Region Team and redshirt sophomore middle blocker Leah Ford (Keller, Texas/Keller HS) received honorable mention notice on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Â
All three Trojans earn all-region recognition for the first time in their careers. Wijay and Messer were first-time All-Big Ten Conference choices last week while Ford earned her second-career all-conference nod. Messer and Wijay push USC's total all-region selections to 74 all-time and are each now eligible to be named to the AVCA All-America teams set to be selected and announced next week
Â
Wijay—one of nine unanimous All-Big Ten first-team selections—ranked eighth in the Big Ten for kills (400) and 12th in kills per set (3.48 kps). She led the Trojans and ranked 14th in the league for total points at 444.5. She reached double-digit kills 24 times and double-digit points 26 times this season; and recorded career highs of 25 kills and 65 attacks to lead USC to a road win at ninth-ranked Wisconsin. Wijay earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors twice (Oct. 20, Nov. 3) and produced eight double-doubles in 2025 to reach 17 in her career.
Â
Messer was a two-time choice for Big Ten Setter of the Week (Nov. 3, Dec. 1) and a two-time Freshman of the Week award winner (Sept. 22, Oct. 27). She was one of just three freshmen on the All-Big Ten first team and led the league in assists per set (10.78 aps) to rank eighth nationally. Her 1,261 total assists ranked second in the league (ninth nationally) and are the most by a Trojan since Mia Tuaniga had 1,308 in 2022. Messer is one of two Trojans to have played every set for USC this season and totaled 267 digs, 75 kills, 75 blocks, and 15 service aces to reach 131.0 points. She produced 11 double-doubles and set USC to 11 matches over .300 hitting.
Â
Ford led the Big Ten in blocking (1.35 bps) and ranked sixth in the conference for hitting at .378. She was a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week winner (Sept. 1, Nov. 24) and produced her first-career double-double with 10 kills and 11 blocks in a win over Loyola Marymount on Aug. 31. She reached double-digit points 11 times this season with a career-high 18.5 points in the match at LMU.
Â
The 14th-ranked Trojans (25-6, 15-5 Big Ten) finished the regular season tied for third in the Big Ten and were awarded one of 33 at-large berths—and a hosting bid—into the 2025 NCAA tournament. USC made its fourth straight appearance in the tourney under sixth-year head coach Brad Keller (41st all-time) and moved into the second round for the fourth consecutive year with a 3-0 sweep of Princeton. The Women of Troy were eliminated from postseason play in a hard-fought five-set loss to Cal Poly in the second round.
