For the second time this season, Davidson earns Big Ten weekly honors.
LOS ANGELES - USC's first-year guard Jazzy Davidson has been named the Big Ten Conference's Freshman of the Week, the second weekly honor of her collegiate career.
Last week, Davidson delivered a standout stretch, earning her first career double-double on Tuesday against Tennessee Tech before adding her sixth double-figure scoring performance of the season in Friday's matchup with Pepperdine.
She posted a breakthrough performance versus Tennessee Tech, finishing with 20 points (9-of-14 FG) and a career-high 16 rebounds. Her 16 boards not only led all players but also marked the most by a USC freshman since Rayah Marshall's performance against Texas Southern on Dec. 18, 2021. Davidson also chipped in four assists and two blocks to round out the effort.
Davidson stayed hot on Friday, tallying 18 points along with four rebounds, five assists, and a game-high three blocks in the win over Pepperdine.
The freshman currently leads USC in every major statistical category including points (16.3 PPG), rebounds (6.7 RPG), assists (4.0 APG), steals (2.0 SPG) and blocks (2.3 BPG). The Trojan also averages a team-high 31:06 minutes per game, helping her squad pick up two nonconference victories in the last week alone.
Davidson and the No. 16 Trojans continue nonconference play tomorrow evening with a 7 p.m. matchup at the Galen Center against Saint Mary's. Later in the week, USC will begin conference play as the Trojans host No. 21 Washington on Sunday, Dec. 7 for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
