EUGENE, Ore. – No. 24 USC Men's Basketball (7-0) is ready to open Big Ten play as they take on the University of Oregon Ducks in Eugene on Tuesday, Dec. 2. This is the third straight year that the Trojans are opening conference play against the Ducks.

LAST TIME OUT
USC Men's Basketball won the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational with a 88-75 win over Arizona State on Nov. 26. The Trojans were paced by Chad Baker-Mazara's team-high 23 points. Jaden Brownell came off firing from the bench with 16 points and Ezra Ausar put up 14 points.

The Trojans and Sun Devils danced back and forth in the first half, heading into the break tied up. Big shooting games from Baker-Mazara and Brownell pushed the Trojans out to the lead in the second half, and USC's defense was able to ice out Arizona State from there. The Trojans' win marked their first-ever tournament title in Maui and the first multi-team event since 2017.

SCOUTING THE DUCKS

The Ducks head into Tuesday's game 4-3 on the season. They came out of the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas winless, dropping consecutive games to Auburn (73-84), San Diego State (80-97) and Creighton (66-76).
In Oregon's loss to Creighton, forward Sean Stewart recorded a team-high 18 points and seven rebounds. The Ducks were 1-15 from the three-point line and gave up 24 points on the fast break.
This season, the Ducks are led in scoring by center Nate Bittle (16.3 PPG) and guard Jackson Shelstad (15.7 PPG). Two other players — Takai Simpson and Kwame Evans Jr. — also average double figures.
At 7'0, Bittle leads the team in rebounding (7.8 RPG) and has 14 blocks this season.
In his 15th season with Oregon, Head Coach Dana Altman is the winningest coach in program history, posting a 374-162 (.698) record. With the Ducks, Altman has made nine total NCAA appearances, including five consecutive tournaments (2013-2017). The 2013 National Coach of the Year has seen 15 seasons with 20+ wins and won back-to-back conference titles in 2020 and 2021.
The Ducks returned eight players and welcomed nine new faces, including six transfers and three freshmen recruits.

After starting the season 7-0, USC Men's Basketball has earned a spot on the AP Top 25 Men's College Basketball Poll. This is the first time USC has been ranked in the Top 25 since the week of Nov. 20, 2023.

ALL ABOUT COFIE
Jacob Cofie is proving himself to be one of the best defensive rebounders in the country. He is currently 19th in the NCAA in blocks per game. According to CBB Analytics, he is in the 91st percentile or higher in block percentage (8.6%), blocks per 40 minutes (3.3), and blocks per personal fouls (0.71x). He is also in the 91st percentile in Hakeem percentage, which calculates the sum of his block and steal percentages.

OH, WHAT A START
USC Men's Basketball is having one of the best starts to a season since the 2021-22 season, when the Trojans went 13-0 to begin the year. USC won its first three games by 20+ points each, which was the first time the Trojans opened with three-straight wins by at least 20 points since the 1928-29 season. Then, USC won its next three games by one possession, which USC hasn't done since 2022 when the Trojans took down Washington State, Oregon State and Oregon from Feb. 20-26, 2022. USC topped that all off with an 88-75 win over Arizona State to win the Southwest Maui Invitational Championship.
