USC Men's Basketball Prepares for Maui Invitational

The Trojans will face Boise State in the first round of the tournament.
MAUI, Hawai'i – USC Men's Basketball (4-0) is ready to compete in the Southwest Maui Invitational from Monday, Nov. 24, through Wednesday, Nov. 26. On the first day of the tournament, USC will face the Boise State Broncos. This is the first time these two teams have ever played each other.

LAST TIME OUT
On Nov. 20, USC earned its first triple-overtime win in school history in a 107-106 thriller over Troy. With a couple of seconds on the clock, guard Jordan Marsh sank a shot from beyond the arc to lift the Trojans to victory at the final buzzer.
Chad Baker-Mazara recorded a career night, finishing with career-highs in 34 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Rodney Rice posted a season-high 26 points, along with nine assists, and Ezra Ausar went off in the extra frames of the game, putting up 20 of 22 points from the second half and overtime periods alone.

This is the third time that USC has competed in the Maui Invitational, and they have yet to win this historic event. The Trojans are 2-4 all-time in the tournament. USC faces Boise State in the first round, with the winner moving on to face the victor of NC State and Seton Hall.
Chad Baker-Mazara also has the opportunity to do something no other college player has done here in Maui. He won the tournament with Auburn last season and can be the first to win back-to-back Maui Invitationals.
RACKING UP POINTS
USC has four players averaging 10 or more points through four games, including two who are averaging 20 or more points. They are Chad Baker-Mazara (22.5), Rodney Rice (20.5), Ezra Ausar (18.3) and Jacob Cofie (10.8). The last time USC had at least four players averaging 10 points per game was in 2018 when Nick Rakocevic (15.5), Bennie Boatwright (15.0), Kevin Porter Jr. (14.0) and Jonah Matthews (11.3) did the same.
THIRD (OVER)TIME IS THE CHARM
USC's last game was a nail-biter against Troy, as this game went to triple overtime. After 55 minutes, USC came out on top with a score of 107-106 thanks to a buzzer-beater from Jordan Marsh. This is the team's first triple overtime victory, and the first time USC won a game while allowing its opponent to score 100 points since a 103-101 quadruple overtime win over Arizona on Jan. 9, 2016.

- Head Coach Leon Rice is in his 16th season with the Boise State Broncos. He is the program's winningest coach and currently posts a 320-177 (.644) overall record. Rice has led the Broncos to the Big Dance five times. In Boise State's most recent NCAA appearance, the team lost to Colorado 53-60 in the First Four (Mar. 20).
- The Broncos head into Monday's game 4-1 on the season, outlasting Wichita State 62-59 on Nov. 18. Center Drew Fielder put up a team-high 17 points and six rebounds. Fielder posts a team-high field-goal percentage, shooting 57% on the hardwood.
- Forward Andrew Meadows leads the team with 15.6 points per game. Three other Broncos average double-digit scoring.
- Both Meadows and forward Javan Buchanan are shooting over .450 from the three-point line.
- Guard Dylan Andrews is the Broncos' primary facilitator, dishing out nearly five and a half assists per game.
- Boise State is currently ranked second in the Mountain West Conference. Coach Rice ranks second in career conference victories.
- This season's squad returns seven players from last year, seeing two transfers and four freshmen recruits.
