LOS ANGELES – USC Men's Basketball (3-0) returns to the Galen Center to take on the Troy Trojans on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. These two teams only played each other once back in 2016, when USC won 82-77.

LAST TIME OUT
The Trojans got out of the gate quickly in their victory over Illinois State at the Intuit Dome with a 9-0 run across five minutes in the first half. The second half was a defensive battle as the Trojans relied on significant blocks and steals to pull ahead. USC ultimately defeated Illinois State by a score of 87-67. Rodney Rice had a historic night with just the second triple-double in USC history, recording 21 points, a career-high 10 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. Chad Baker-Mazara put up 18 points to surpass 1,200 career points, while Gabe Dynes contributed 14 points, three blocks and a career-high three assists.

SCOUTING THE TROY TROJANS

Troy is coached by Scott Cross, who is in his seventh season with the Trojans. During that time, he has accumulated a 107-89 record. He has also led the Trojans to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016-17.
The Trojans are coming off a double overtime win over San Diego State. Troy defeated the Aztecs with a score of 108-107. This was the third game of Troy's West Coast trip. Currently, they are 1-2 in the Pacific time zone.
As a team, Troy is ranked 17th in the NCAA in steals per game, averaging 11.8 per game. In the Sun Belt, Troy ranks No. 1 in assist-to-turnover ratio, steals per game, and turnovers forced per game.
The offense is led by sophomore guard Cooper Campbell, who is averaging 15.8 points per game. He is also shooting at 58.7 percent from the field.
Thomas Dowd is crucial to the Trojans' defensive efforts. He ranks 25th in the NCAA in rebounds per game, averaging 7.4 boards a game. The junior forward is also crucial to the team's offense as he is averaging 14.2 points per game.

USC has three different players averaging 17 or more points through the first three games, and they are Rodney Rice (18.7 PPG), Chad Baker-Mazara (18.7 PPG) and Ezra Ausar (17.0 PPG). The last time USC had three or more players averaging at least 17 points a game through the first three games was in the 2017-18 season with Jordan McLaughlin (19.7 PPG), Bennie Boatwright (18.3 PPG) and Chimezie Metu (18.3 PPG).

HANDLING THE BALL
During USC's last game against Illinois State, the Trojans only had four turnovers. The last time USC had four or fewer turnovers was on Jan. 29, 2022, when they only had four turnovers against Cal.
