No. 16 USC Women's Volleyball Outlasts Oregon for Road Win

London Wijay led the Trojans with 17 kills in a 3-1 victory over the Ducks
EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 16-ranked USC women's volleyball team (21-6, 12-5 Big Ten) outlasted Oregon (15-12, 6-11) in a marathon four-set match (31-33, 28-26, 28-26, 25-19) at Matthew Knight Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

- RS So. OH London Wijay recorded her sixth double-double of the season (15th career) with a team-high 17 kills (5e, 39att) on .308 hitting with a season-high 14 digs. She also had a service ace and two blocks for 19.0 points.
- In her return to MKA, So. MB Mia Tvrdy poured in 13 kills (4e, 23att) with .391 hitting and added four blocks for 15.0 points.
- RS So. MB Leah Ford had nine kills (2e, 14att) and hit .500 with seven blocks for 12.5 points.
- Fr. OPP Abigail Mullen scored eight kills and had two aces, two blocks, and 10 digs.
- Fr. S Reese Messer dished out 46 assists to go with seven digs, four blocks, three kills, and a service ace.Â
- Fr. LIB Taylor Deckert had 10 digs—and five assists—for her 17th contest in double digits.Â
- RS Jr. OH Adonia Faumuina tallied eight kills with four blocks and had two digs.
- Sr. DS Gala Trubint picked up eight digs to go with a service ace and had two assists.Â
- For the Ducks, Alanah Clemente had 24 kills to lead all scorers and added five blocks and a pair of service aces to put up 28.5 points. Valentina Vaulet and Sophia Meyers each had 12 kills apiece. Cora Taylor put up 52 assists and had six digs to go with three kills and a service ace.
- It took 14 ties before the Ducks claimed the opening set, 33-31, behind 13 points from Clemente (11k, 2sa). The Trojans hit .381 with 21 kills (5e) on 42 swings and were led by a seven-kill performance from Wijay who also had three digs. Tvrdy racked five kills and Ford had four in the first-set effort. USC led by as many as four at 12-8 and had a three-point lead at 21-18 before the fourth tie of the frame came at 21-all. The Ducks had set point five times before USC claimed set point thrice. Oregon made good on its sixth set point on back-to-back kills from Vaulet for the win.
- Not to be outdone, set two put the teams through 18 ties before the Trojans equalized with a 28-26 win. USC hit just .086 with 12 kills and nine errors on 35 attempts but served three aces and had two blocks to make up the difference. The Trojans led by two early, 7-5, but Oregon had the largest lead of the frame at 21-17. Ford went quick and Wijay scored on a tip to make it 22-all as part of a 3-0 run that put USC in front, 23-22. The Ducks had set point at 24-23, but USC wiped it out and went in front three times before closing out the win on a kill from Tvrdy.
- The Trojans fell behind by five early in the third but fought back to claim a 17-16 lead with a 3-0 run on back-to-back Mullen kills and an ace from Trubint. The teams traded 3-0 runs late in the frame, one of which put the Ducks on top, 23-21. USC responded with a kill from Tvrdy, an ace from Dani Thomas-Nathan, and took an Oregon error to lead, 24-23. The Ducks saved one set point, but Ford scored a kill and a block to close out a 28-26 win for a 2-1 Trojan lead in the match.
- In the only set without a tie, the Trojans prevailed, 25-19, to close out the four-set victory. USC put up a balanced attack as Faumuina and Mullen each scored three kills; and Wijay and Tvrdy each added two. The Trojans had three blocks to help hold the Ducks to a .132 hitting rate (11k, 6e) on 38 swings and out-hit Oregon with a total of 12 kills (4e) on 28 attempts for a .286 attack rate.Â
- USC returns home to host Illinois (13-12, 8-8 Big Ten) at Galen Center on Saturday (Nov. 22) at 4 p.m. PT. It is Senior Night for the Women of Troy. The program will honor seniors Allie Hazelwood, Rylie McGinest, Madison Pietsch, Dani Thomas-Nathan, Gala Trubint, and Megan Verbiest in pre-match ceremonies at approximately 3:50 p.m. The match will be shown live on Big Ten Plus.
- USC improved to 59-21 all-time against Oregon and won its third in a row over the Ducks.
- The Trojans won their fourth straight road match and moved to 7-2 on the road in 2025.
- The Women of Troy improved to 59-16 all-time in the state of Oregon.
- USC reached double-digit blocks (11.5) for the 14th time this season.
