USC Men's Tennis Drops Seventh Straight With Loss to Washington
April 05, 2024 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – USC men's tennis (5-12, 0-3 Pac-12) continues its struggles, as it dropped its seventh straight matchup, as Washington (8-10, 2-2 Pac-12) won the matchup 4-2 on Friday, April 5 at the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.
The main story that of the afternoon was an injury that left the No. 6 spot empty for the Trojans, as freshman Volodymyr Iakubenko did not play in singles after playing doubles alongside partner Niroop Vallabhaneni. That point proved crucial as USC only lost the matchup by two points.
In doubles the Trojans took home one victory as the #75 Peter Makk/Lodewijk Weststrate upset the #39 doubles team in the country.
In singles two individuals picked up wins as Weststrate and graduate student Samuel Rubell both won in straight sets.
USC continues its road trip, as it takes on Oregon at noon on Sunday in Eugene, Oregon.
