Four Trojan alumni win events during final day of the meet
The men's 4x100m relay, JC Stevenson in the long jump and Temi Ojora in the triple jump won Elite Invitational events and four Trojan alumni won titles during the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays held at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. today (April 20).
- USC's team of Travis Williams, Max Thomas, JC Stevenson and Johnnie Blockburger won the Elite men's 4x100m race with a time of 38.77. That time currently ranks fifth in the world, second on the NCAA descending order list and moves the quartet to seventh on USC's all-time list.
- JC Stevenson won the Elite men's long jump competition with a PR of 26-5.00/8.05m (+0.0). His jump moved him from ninth to fifth on USC's all-time list. Johnny Brackins Jr. took only two attempts, but placed sixth with a best jump of 25-5.50/7.78m (+0.0). It was Brackins Jr.'s first long jump competition of the outdoor season.
- Temi Ojora won the Elite women's triple jump competition with a best jump of 44-1.50/13.45m (-1.7). Ojora placed third in the event last year at the Mt. SAC Relays.
- Nonah Waldron placed third in the Elite women's 100m hurdles race with a PR of 13.15 (+1.7). Simone Ballard finished seventh in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 13.28 (+1.7).
- Johnny Brackins Jr. placed third in the Elite men's 110m hurdles race with a season-best time of 13.57 (+0.2) and Di'Niko Bates had a PR of 13.84 (+0.2) to place sixth. Bates had his blocks slip in the first heat and was allowed to run in the second heat. Trojan alum Tade Ojora won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.48 (+0.2).
- Max Thomas took third in the Elite men's 200m race with a time of 20.58 (-1.4). His time was the best among the college runners.
- Jassani Carter placed fourth in the Elite women's 100m dash with a time of 11.30 (-0.4) and Samirah Moody , in her first 100m race of the season, was fifth with a time of 11.31 (-0.4).
- The women's 4x100m relay team of Christine M. Mallard, Madison Whyte, Samirah Moody and Jassani Carter placed fourth in the Elite 100m race with a season-best time of 43.47. Their time was tops among the collegiate teams.
- Nikolaos Polychroniou placed fifth in the Elite men's hammer throw competition with a PR of 239-5 (72.98m). Polychroniou moved from sixth to fifth on USC's all-time hammer throw list. He also moved from 13th to sixth on the NCAA descending order list in the hammer throw.
- Racquil Broderick placed fifth in the Elite men's discus throw competition with a best mark of 195-11 (59.72m). He had the top throw by a collegian in the competition.
- Yemi John placed fifth in the Elite women's 400m race with a season-best time of 51.67, Jan'Taijah Jones was sixth with a time of 51.71 and Madison Whyte was eighth with a PR of 51.77. They were the three top times posted by collegians in the event. Trojan alumni Bailey Lear (51.00) and Kendall Ellis (51.25) finished 1-2 in the event.
- Jassani Carter won her Elite women's 200m heat and finished sixth overall with a time of 23.02 (-0.8).
- Marne Sullivan placed sixth in the Elite women's 800m race with a time of 2:05.50. Sullivan was second among the collegians and Gigi Maccagnini was third among the college runners and 10th overall with a time of 2:06.91.
- Rae-Anne Serville placed eighth in the Elite women's 400m hurdles with a PR of 57.41. In just her fourth career 400m hurdles race, she moved to 10th on USC's all-time list in the event.
- Max Thomas won his Elite men's 100m dash heat and placed ninth overall with a wind-legal PR of 10.19 (+0.0).
- Darius Rainey was second in his heat and ninth overall with a PR of 1:49.85 in the Elite men's 800m race. He also finished third among the collegiate athletes. Trojan alum Isaiah Jewett had a time of 1:46.03 to place third.
- Other Trojan alumni winning events today were Rai Benjamin claiming the Elite men's 400m title with a time of 44.42 andMadisen Richards taking the Elite women's long jump (21-8.25/6.61m).
