No. 4 USC Swimming Wins 200y Freestyle Relay Title, Anicka Delgado Claims 50y Free

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The No. 4 USC women's swimming and diving team won a pair of conference titles on Friday, Feb. 29 to highlight the Trojans second day at the 2024 Pac-12 Swim and Dive Championships in Federal Way, Wash.
Heading into the third day of competition, USC currently sits in second place with 401 points. Cal leads the way with 479 points.
USC's Delgado, who posted the second fastest time during the 50y freestyle prelims (22.17), returned to claim the splash and dash event in 21.95 and pick up her second career conference crown. The Ecuador Olympian previously won the event in 2021. Trojan Caroline Famous also appeared in the championship final, finishing fourth in 22.17.
In the consolation final of the 50y freestyle, the Trojans finished 10th-11th-12th as Kaitlyn Dobler (22.27), Hannah Kuechler (22.33) and Vasilissa Buinaia (22.43) touched second, third and fourth, respectively in the b final.
Trojan freshman Minna Abraham finished fifth in the championship final of the 200y IM, clocking a season best 1:55.82. Sophomore Katherine Adams swam in the consolation final, touching seventh in 1:59.54.
USC closed out the meet in dramatic fashion, winning the programs first 200y freestyle relay title as Delgado, Famous, Dobler and Abraham combined to clock a 1:27.10 en route to a major victory. Abraham, the anchor specialist, won it for the Trojans with a 21.50 final 50y free unofficial split.
The Women of Troy continue action tomorrow with prelims set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
WOMEN'S DIVING:
Trojan fifth year diver Nike Agunbiade earned a spot on the podium on Thursday, finishing second on 1-meter with 310.70 points. In prelims, Agunbiade tallied 306 points.
USC's Grace Lee was second in the consolation final, scoring 17 points for the Trojans. Allison Ward (14th) and Farrah Volpintesta (15th)
The Pac-12 Women's Diving Championships continue tomorrow with the women's 3-meter event set to begin at 12:15 p.m. PT.
MEN'S DIVING:
For the second consecutive day, USC saw Laurent Gosselin-Paradis reached the Pac-12 championship final, this time on 3-meter. Gosselin-Paradis finished fifth with 340.10 points in prelims and third in the championship final with 393 points.
Trojans Robert Gref finished 10th with 300.50 points, while Wesley Ahart (238.15) and Tatsuya Machida (225.55) finished 17th and 18th, respectively.
The Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships continue tomorrow with the men's platform event set to begin at 3:05 p.m. PT.
