The Trojans finished 11-28 from the 3-point line (39.8 percent) and had 29 total assists on 33 field goals. It was a well-needed win for the Trojans (6-7, 1-2 Pac-12) in their Pac-12 home opener after USC had dropped five of its previous six games.
USC broke away from a close start to the game with a 15-3 run to end the first half. The Trojans steadily held their lead in the second half, but the Golden Bears (4-10, 0-3 Pac-12) threatened the Trojans with a 10-3 spurt that cut USC's advantage to five points with two minutes remaining.
Joshua Morgan's pick-and-roll dunk and pairs of free throws from James and Harrison Hornery sealed the result for USC.
