USC Women's Soccer Set For Exhibition at Long Beach State
August 09, 2023 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES -- Fans will have their first chance to get a look at the 2023 USC women's soccer team this weekend, as the Trojans play an exhibition match at Long Beach State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The exhibition match comes less than a week before the Trojans' regular season opener on August 17 at home against Michigan. The game at Long Beach State will not be broadcast, but will be open to the public. Tickets can be purchased here.
USC is entering its second season under Head Coach Jane Alukonis in 2023. The Trojans finished last season 12-3-3 overall and 8-1-2 (3rd) in the Pac-12. USC made its ninth straight postseason appearance in Alukonis' first season at the helm and finished the year No. 23 in the rankings.
The Trojans come into this season at No. 22 in the preseason coaches poll and return four players who earned All-Pac-12 honors last season (Simi Awujo, Simone Jackson, Zoe Burns, Brooklyn Courtnall). USC again plays one of the most challenging schedules in the country, with 50% of the Trojans' opponents (9-of-18) appearing in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
USC's first two games of the season are both at home, with Michigan (Aug. 17) and Georgia (Aug. 20) coming to town. The Trojans played Long Beach State early in the regular season last year, coming away with a 1-0 victory on the road behind a goal from Aaliyah Farmer.
