No. 10 USC Men’s Tennis Boasts Doubles Team of the Year, Six Trojans Earn All-Pac-12 Accolades

Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye named Doubles Team of the Year for second season in a row.
USC men's tennis is enjoying a crop of Pac-12 awards with the Doubles Team of the Year and a a solid set of First Team and Honorable Mention recipients. Senior Stefan Dostanic and fifth year Bradley Frye received Doubles Team of the Year accolades while six total Trojans have picked up All-Pac-12 accolades.
USC's Dostanic and Frye are the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year for the second consecutive season, the first back-to-back winners of the award since UCLA's Evan Zhu and Martin Redlicki in 2017 and 2018. The league's top doubles duo at No. 13, who have been as high as No. 2 in September, they carry a 12-9 overall record into NCAA play. They are just the fourth duo to earn the award in back-to-back years since it began in 2000. They're the second Trojan pair to do so, Robert Farah and Steve Johnson in 2009-10. Troy has now claimed the conference doubles team of the year award for the third consecutive season.
Troy's three-pack earning All-Pac-12 First Team honors are all first-time recipients aside from senior Dostanic, who has a first-teamer last season as the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year. He's joined on this year's list by junior Wojtek Marek and sophomore Peter Makk. All three have been instrumental in the USC lineup, having all tallied double-digit singles wins to date, led by NCAA singles bound Makk's 26 victories. The group as a whole has also combined forces to clinch 12 of USC's 19 dual match wins to date.
An additional three Trojans were honorable mention selections, including Frye, junior Lodewijk Weststrate and freshman Learner Tien. Combined the three have clinch four matches for the Trojans this season.
THIS WEEK
No. 10 USC (10-seed) is set to open up its 2023 NCAA campaign from home turf for the 16th straight time, hosting Idaho, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego for first and second round competition May 5-6 at Marks Stadium. On Friday (May 5), UC Santa Barbara and San Diego will start things off at 11 a.m., and at 2 p.m., USC will take on Idaho. Winning teams will square off in the NCAA Second Round at 2 p.m. on Saturday (May 6) to fight for a ticket to the NCAA Super Regional at sites to be determined.
The eight teams that advance out of that round will head to the USTA National for the remaining rounds of NCAA competition taking place May 18-20. So, too, will NCAA Individual Championships be held at Complex, with singles and doubles competition running May 22-27.

In the ITA's latest team rankings, USC remained at No. 10 following a strong showing at the Pac-12 Championships.
USC boasts three Trojans in the national singles rankings with senior Stefan Dostanic leading Troy at No. 25. Trojan sophomore Peter Makk locked in the No. 39 ranking while Wojtek Marek claimed the No. 109 ranking.
USC also boasts the No. 13 ranked doubles pair in Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye. The Trojan duo of Frye and freshman Learner Tien moved up in the rankings, checking in at No. 45.

With five NCAA crowns claimed since 2009, USC continues to lead the nation with 21 national championships all-time and holds a 112-38 overall record in the NCAA Tournament. Idaho is 1-2 against ranked opponents this season, with a victory over No. 55 New Mexico in February and loses to both No. 67 Air Force and No. 70 Northern Arizona. Idaho has no ranked singles or doubles players. The Trojans are 2-0 in their all-time series against Idaho.

No. 38 Santa Barbara enters the tournament as champions of the Big West Conference. Gauchos are 22-3 this season, with a 5-1 record in conference play. Santa Barbara has no ranked singles players and one ranked doubles pairing in No. 80 Phillip Jordan and Kai Brady. The Gauchos have played split against their two ranked opponents this season with a win against No. 28 Cal followed by a loss against No. 64 Oregon. The Trojans have never faced the Gauchos.

No. 30 San Diego enters the tournament following a loss to No. 37 Pepperdine in the West Coast Conference championship. USD is 17-7 this season, with an 8-1 record in conference play. San Diego has gone 6-5 in 11 matches against ranked opponents this season. San Diego has one ranked singles player in No. 76 Iiro Vasa and no ranked doubles pairings. The Trojans are 43-3 all time against San Diego.

USC worked its way to its fourth straight Pac-12 Tournament title after a dominant showing in Ojai, dropping only two singles match during the run to the Trojans' seventh overall conference crown. The No. 1 seed in the tourney, USC cruised past No. 9 seeded Oregon 4-0 in the quarterfinals with the clincher coming from Bradley Frye to get the Trojans to the semifinals for the 11th consecutive time. Against No. 4 seed Stanford in the semis, USC snagged dropped the doubles point but rebounded in singles, claiming four singles match to win the match and advance to the championship final. In the title match for the tenth time, USC struggled to get things going in doubles, once again dropping the early point. Troy bounced back in singles, winning four singles matches as Wojtek Marek delivered the clinch.
