The Women of Troy will tour four cities in Brazil over a 10-day visit in May and June
This summer, the USC women's volleyball program will embark on a 10-day tour of Brazil (May 22-June 2) during which the Women of Troy will make stops in Sāo Paulo, the old capital Rio de Janeiro, Saquarema, and Arraial do Cabo.
The tour begins at the Jungle of Stone where the Trojans will spend two nights in Sāo Paulo. The team will fly out on a red-eye flight and have two days to acclimate to the country and surroundings.
The Women of Troy will play back-to-back matches against Paineiras (U21) and Sāo Caetano (U21) in their first matches on May 24 and 25. The Trojans will get to experience some rodizio—an all-you-can-eat style Brazilian steakhouse—and other authentic Brazilian cuisine.
Next, USC travels to Brazilian coast to visit the old capital and host of the 2016 Olympic Games, Rio de Janeiro. There, the Trojans will stay on the beach at Copacabana and play matches against visiting national federation teams from Brazil and Argentina. Away from the gym, the Women of Troy will visit the world-renowned Cristo Redentor or the Christ the Redeemer statue and the 1,300-foot Sugarloaf Mountain.
From Rio, the team heads to Saquarema, home of the Brazilian Volleyball Training Center. While there, USC will have the opportunity to train at one of the most prestigious volleyball facilities in the world, which also happens to be situated across the street from the beautiful Brazilian beach! The Women of Troy will participate in a community service event with a local elementary school and will also play the U19 Brazilian team.
For the Trojans' final stop, the team heads to Arraial do Cabo, a town known for its white-sand beaches. The Women of Troy will conclude the 10-day tour with some fun team-bonding activities on the beach, including stand-up surfing and kayaking, before preparing the journey home.
