
No. 21 USC Baseball Drops Opener at Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. --Freshman Austin Overn went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI for the USC Trojans in a 10-4 loss to the Oregon State Beavers on Friday.
Junior Tyler Stromsborg (4-2) started and took the loss on the mound for USC (21-11-1, 9-4).
At the plate, the Trojans were led by Overn, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Senior Connor Aoki put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Senior Cole Gabrielson also chipped in for USC, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Trojans first put runs on the board in the third inning. Overn put USC on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior Trent Sellers.
The Beavers expanded their lead to 6-1 before the Trojans offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. Overn came across to score the lone run of the inning for USC, which brought the score to 6-2 in favor of the Beavers.
USC held the Beavers off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 6-4 in the seventh. The Trojans added two to their tally on Aoki's two-run homer to left. The Trojans were unable to get any closer, as Oregon State added four runs to their tally on the way to a 10-4 final.
