USC Swimming and Diving Set to Host Crosstown Rival No. 24 UCLA, Utah To Wrap Regular Season

Trojan seniors will be celebrated ahead of the 1 p.m. meet against UCLA/Utah.
The No. 10/20 USC women's and men's swimming and diving programs wrap up the regular season this week as the Trojans welcome No.24 UCLA (women) and Utah (men) for a Friday (Feb. 10), 1 p.m. dual at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
So far this season, the Women of Troy are 5-2, 3-2 while Troy is 4-3, 1-3. Both squads most recently traveled to the Bay area, where they fell to Pac-12 rival's Stanford and Cal.
The UCLA women are 6-2, 3-2 on the season, with losses to Cal and Stanford. Utah carries a 4-2 season record and is 0-2 in conference action. USC has defeated Utah in each of the last two seasons.

Friday's meet marks the end of the regular season for the Trojans, and senior day for USC's veteran swimmers and divers. Senior Day festivities begin at 12:40 p.m. prior to the start of the meet at 1 p.m. Seniors that will be honored on Friday include Aela Janvier, Nike Agunbiade, Nicole Pavlopoulou, Isabelle Odgers, Elise Garcia, Aria Bernal, Savannah Stocker, Lina Sculti, Hallie Kinsey, Henry Blaul, Harry Homans, George Korovin, Trent Martinez, David Mertz, Paul Retterer, Max Saunders and Jackson Odgers.
USC-UCLA Series
The Trojans hold a 30-17-1 edge against the Bruins … USC secured 10 victories in a row from 2008-17 against the Bruins and posted the first tie in the series in 2018. The 10-meet win streak - matched USC's previous best stretch of 10 in a row from 1994 to 2003 … Last year, USC won 15 events and set eight pool records competing at the Spieker Aquatics Center, defeating the Bruins on their home turf… In 2021, the Trojans suffered a loss to the Bruins, snapping a 13-meet unbeaten streak against UCLA … In 2020, USC downed the Bruins 181-119 where the Women of Troy claimed 11 races and swept the sprint free events … In 2019 USC experienced a 181-117 victory at home, winning ten events including one relay … The schools tied 150-150 at UCLA in 2018. USC won seven events, but UCLA caught USC over the final two events to end Troy's 10-meet run … The Trojans' win in 2017 was a 172-128 home victory in which Troy set six pool records and five meet records. Preceding that was a 181-119 victory at UCLA in 2016 and a 174.5-125.5 home win in 2015 that featured five USC swimmers winning two events apiece. In 2014 in Westwood, USC won 165-135, breaking 10 Spieker Aquatics Center pool records and nine meet records in the process. USC defeated UCLA, 167.5-132.5, at USC in 2013. Troy won the 2012 clash in Westwood, 170-130, in a meet in which Trojan swimmers also broke a combined 10 Bruin pool records. That followed a 176-124 victory at USC in 2011, a 164.5-136.5 win at UCLA in 2010, a 160-140 rain-soaked 2009 home win and a 158-142 decision in Westwood in 2008. UCLA last won in 2007 when the Bruins clinched victory during the meet's final relay at McDonald's Swim Stadium. USC hasn't lost to UCLA in Westwood since 2004.
Crosstown Cup
The winner of the USC-UCLA dual meet scores 10 points toward the Crosstown Cup, awarded annually to the school with the most successful athletic year against the other. Points are awarded to the winner of each Trojan-Bruin head-to-head contest (100 points is the magic number).

Junior Kaitlyn Dobler leads the nation with the fastest time in the 100y breast this season (56.94), enough for an NCAA A cut. She also holds NCAA B cuts in the 50y free (22.03) and 200y breast (2:08.58).
USC fifth years Isabelle Odgers (100y breast – 1:00.48, 200y breast – 2:07.54, 200y IM – 1:55.84, 400y IM – 4:08.63), Elise Garcia (50y free – 22.68) and Aria Bernal (100y back – 52.61, 200y back – 1:59.29) have all earned NCAA B cuts.
Trojan Anicka Delgado holds NCAA B standards in the 50y free (21.97), 100y free (48.68) and the 100y fly (52.46). Fellow junior Hanna Henderson has B cuts in the 50y free (22.44), 100y free (49.49), 100y back (53.15) and 200y back (1:54.55).
Sophomore distance freestyle specialist Marlene Kahler has provisional cuts in the 500y free (4:40.57) and the 1650y free (16:13.73).
USC's freshman have performed exceptionally well this season, with Justina Kozan (200y free – 1:45.35, 500y free – 4:41.09, 200y IM – 1:57.81, 400y IM – 4:09.95, 200y fly – 1:54.91), Ella Flowers ( ), Ashley McMillan (200y IM – 1:57.29, 400y IM – 4:15.38, 200y back – 1:55.69), Katherine Adams (200y IM – 1:58.97, 400y IM – 4:17.11, 200y breast – 2:11.46) and Hannah Kuchler (50y free – 22.65, each carrying NCAA B Cuts.
Divers Nike Agunbiade and Maddie Huitt are qualified for the Zone E Diving Championships on all three specialties, while Lina Sculti (1-meter, 3-meter), Grace Lee (1-meter, platform), Savannah Stocker (1-meter), Farrah Volpintesta (1-meter, 3-meter) and Allison Ward (3-meter) have qualifying scores in one or more events.

Seniors Max Saunders (50y free - 19.43, 100y free - 43.21, 200y free – 1:35.23), David Mertz(1650y free – 15:23.94), Harry Homans (200y IM – 1:46.49, 400y IM – 3:51.09, 200y fly – 1:44.48), Jackson Odgers (100y fly – 47.42, 200y fly – 1:45.48), Paul Retterer (500y free - 4:23.33)and Henry Blaul (200y IM – 1:46.69, 100y breast – 53.66, 200y breast – 1:56.43) have all earned NCAA B cuts.
Trojan Ben Dillard holds NCAA B standards in the 200y IM (1:44.81), 100y breast (53.03) and 200y breast (1:53.29). Fellow junior Vaggelis Makrygiannis has B cuts in the 100y back (46.62), 200y back (1:43.39) and 500y free (4:22.68).
Sophomore's Chris O'Grady (100y breast – 52.09, 200y breast – 1:52.79, 200y IM – 1:44.93) and Artem Selin (50y free - 19.43) both hold NCAA provisional cuts.
Freshman Griffin O'Leary has an NCAA B cut in the 200y back (1:43.75)
Divers George Korovin and Laurent Gosselin-Paradis are qualified for the Zone E Diving Championships on all three specialties, while Shangfei Wang (1-meter, 3-meter) and Robert Gref (platform) also have qualifying scores in one or more events.
