No. 20 USC Men’s Swimming and Diving Falls to No. 2 California

USC diving sweeps both springboard events.
Trojan Chris O'Grady won the 100y breaststroke while diver Shangfei Wang claimed 1-meter and 3-meter in No. 20 USC's loss at No. 2 California, 171.5-124.5, on Friday (Feb. 3) in Berkeley.
With the loss USC drops to 4-2, 1-2.
USC's powerful diving contingent had a strong showing against the Bears, sweeping both events. Sophomore Shangfei won on both specialties, recording 343.43 points on 1-meter, and 411.60 points on 3-meter. Laurent Gosselin-Paradis claimed second on both boards, finishing 1-meter with 338.03 points and 3-meter with 353.03 points. Senior All-American George Korovin was third with 302.78 points on 1-meter and 325.28 points on 3-meter.
Chris O'Grady captured the Trojans lone swimming event of the day as he led a 1-2 USC finish in the 100y breaststroke. O'Grady clocked a 53.53 for first while junior Ben Dillard was second in 54.33. O'Grady (1:56.69) and Dillard (1:58.89) later returned to finish 2-3, respectively in the 200y breaststroke.
Senior Jackson Odgers posted a 1:47.30 to touch second in the 200y butterfly.
Sprint freestyle specialist Artem Selin blasted a 20.12 in the 50y free but would ultimately be out-touched by Cal's Jack Alexy.
The Trojans return to action tomorrow as USC heads to Palo Alto for a noon dual against No. 12 Stanford at the Avery Aquatic Center.
