No. 14 USC Women’s Swimming and Diving Primed for Pac-12 Championships

The Women of Troy will begin the 2023 postseason this week the Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington, Wednesday (Feb. 22) through Saturday (Feb. 25). Additionally, the Pac-12 will host the men's diving championships concurrently (Feb. 22-24).
During the 2022-23 season, the Trojans finished 6-2 and 4-2, defeating Pac-12 rivals Arizona, Arizona State, Utah and UCLA.
The hotly competitive Pac-12's features four teams in the top-25 heading into conference championships, including No. 3 Stanford, No. 11 California, No. 14 USC and tied for No. 25 is Arizona State.

PRIMED TO SCORE – FAST TIMES USC fall semester of swimming netted a slew of NCAA cuts and spots in the nation's top 25 list. The Women of Troy's top times documents can be found here.
Junior Kaitlyn Dobler leads the nation with the fastest time in the 100y breast this season (56.94), enough for an NCAA A cut. She also holds NCAA B cuts in the 50y free (22.03) and 200y breast (2:08.58).
USC fifth years Isabelle Odgers (100y breast – 58.88, 200y breast – 2:06.87, 200y IM – 1:55.84, 400y IM – 4:08.63), Elise Garcia (50y free – 22.68) and Aria Bernal (100y back – 52.61, 200y back – 1:59.29) have all earned NCAA B cuts.
Senior Aela Janvier, who did not compete in the fall holds provisional cuts in both the 100y (53.60) and 200y back (1:54.57).
Trojan Anicka Delgado holds NCAA B standards in the 50y free (21.97), 100y free (48.68) and the 100y fly (52.46). Fellow junior Hanna Henderson has B cuts in the 50y free (22.44), 100y free (49.32), 100y back (53.15) and 200y back (1:54.55).
Sophomore distance freestyle specialist Marlene Kahler has provisional cuts in the 500y free (4:40.57) and the 1650y free (16:13.73).
USC's freshman have performed exceptionally well this season, with Justina Kozan (200y free – 1:45.35, 500y free – 4:41.09, 200y IM – 1:57.81, 400y IM – 4:09.95, 200y fly – 1:54.91), Ella Flowers (400y IM – 4:14.05), Ashley McMillan (200y IM – 1:57.29, 400y IM – 4:15.38, 200y back – 1:55.69), Katherine Adams (200y IM – 1:58.97, 400y IM – 4:17.11, 100y breast – 1:01.06, 200y breast – 2:11.46) and Hannah Kuchler (50y free – 22.65, each carrying NCAA B Cuts.
Divers Nike Agunbiade and Maddie Huitt are qualified for the Zone E Diving Championships on all three specialties, while Lina Sculti (1-meter, 3-meter), Grace Lee (1-meter, platform), Savannah Stocker (1-meter, platform), Farrah Volpintesta (1-meter, 3-meter) and Allison Ward (3-meter) have qualifying scores in one or more events.
USC'S PAC-12 SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
USC won its first-ever Pac-12 title in 2016 with a program-record 1481 points as all 21 swimmers and six divers eligible to score that year did so. USC's previous best Pac-12 finish was second, something it did six times, most recently in 2013 when it scored a then-program best 1418.5 points and lost by 21 to Stanford in the closest finish in conference history. While USC hadn't won a Pac-12 title before 2016, it did win four conference titles during the WCAA era, its last coming in 1985.
The Women of Troy are coming off a third-place finish in 2022, scoring 1373.5 points. USC picked up four Pac-12 individual titles during the 2022 championships, with fifth year senior Isabelle Odgers leading a 1-2-3 Trojan sweep in the 200y breaststroke (Kaitlyn Dobler second, Calypso Sheridan third). Dobler, who'd go on to win an NCAA title in the event, defended her freshman year Pac-12 title in the 100y breaststroke. Then sophomore Anicka Delgado tied for first in the 50y free, blasting a personal best 21.89 en route to her first conference crown. USC also saw freshman Caroline Pennington capture a title in the 1650y freestyle.
USC has won at least two Pac-12 individual titles (including diving) in 14 straight years and in 21 of the past 22 seasons and has won at least one title in 28 of the past 29 seasons.
Troy has seven conference relay titles, claiming the 800y free relay in 2003, 2010, 2016 and 2020 and taking the 400y medley relay in 2006 and 2009. In 2020, the Trojans also picked up the first ever conference relay title in the 400y free relay.
USC's 30 Pac-12 women's diving titles (12 on 1-meter, 13 on 3-meter, five on platform) are second most in conference history (behind only Stanford) and most have come under the direction of 24th-year diving head coach Hongping Li.
